Angelica screamed and thrashed and struggled, slashing with her sickle and scraping the blade against Metal Sonichu’s helm and shoulders to no avail. Frost formed across the visor, and it was soon hard for Kevin to see through the white tendrils that had spread over his eyes.
Suddenly, the clouds were gone, and the world had instead become enveloped in the beautiful orange glow of sunset. Flapping her wings in panic, Angelica managed to wriggle around in her foe’s grasp and begin a counterattack, even as the air grew colder and thinner around them. Steel Wings and vicious punches clanged against the powered armor, but Graduon was able to absorb all but the strongest blows. Struggling to stay on course, Kevin watched his HUD’s altimeter tick past ten kilometers in a seconds and climb towards eleven. Higher. He needed to go higher.
Firing all thrusters downward, the Jerkop felt his armor vibrating as gusts of wind buffeted him and Angelica like paper dolls in a hurricane. The Rosechu’s feathers had begun to freeze, and despite her frantic assault, her strength was waning. Yet she persisted, gasping and pounding at Kevin as they passed the stratosphere. The ground lay twenty kilometers below, and they were moving faster, with less resistance as the air grew thinner and thinner. Kevin knew he was almost at the point of no return, but if his plan was going to work, he would have to go to the very edge.
